Scope
Davbridge Constructions was engaged by Shadforth Civil to build three new bridges for the Bells Creek development at Caloundra South. The project involved building a 25 m single span road bridge, a 60 m three span road bridge and a 77 m four span pedestrian bridge, each with bored piles, PSC deck units and a reinforced in situ concrete topping slab. The foundations comprised 35 steel lined bored piles of 900 to 1500 mm diameter, with 478 m of steel pile liner across the three bridges. The works then covered erection of 119 PSC deck units up to 27.6 m long and up to 1400 mm deep, on 274 elastomeric bearings, and about 1,692 m³ of in situ concrete reinforced with 337 t of steel across the piles, headstocks, decks, kerbs and relieving slabs. Additionally, the project required 219.5 m of steel traffic rail and 364 m³ of rock protection at the northern bridge. The project presented challenges such as delivering three separate structures, two road bridges and a pedestrian bridge, within one development program. Located at Caloundra South on the Sunshine Coast, this project demonstrated Davbridge Constructions' ability to deliver multiple bridges for land development clients while maintaining environmental, community and safety standards.
