Scope
Davbridge Constructions was engaged by Scenic Rim Regional Council to build the new Hinchcliffe Bridge at Kooralbyn, together with new road approaches and service relocations. The project involved building a two span, dual lane bridge with a cast in situ substructure and a superstructure of 46 PSC deck units, each 18.95 m long and 760 mm deep, transversely stressed and finished with bridge rail. The foundations comprised eleven steel lined bored piles, eight of 900 mm and three of 1200 mm diameter, with an average depth of 15 m and 128 m of steel pile liner. The works then covered about 298 m³ of in situ structural concrete across the piles, headstocks, kerbs and relieving slabs. Additionally, the project required new road approaches built on 2,924 m³ of road embankment, and the relocation of about 200 m of DN150 to DN200 watermain within the road corridor. The project presented challenges such as deep foundations and relocating live services in the road corridor to make way for the new approaches. Located in the Scenic Rim region of South East Queensland, this project demonstrated Davbridge Constructions' ability to deliver a complete bridge and road package for a local council while maintaining environmental, community and safety standards.
